White Sands National Monument

White Sands National Monument in New Mexico can be a surreal place to adventure to in winter. On a quiet weekday with nobody in sight, you can just hear the whistling wind and military test explosions in the distance. With just a short hike in, there are many mystical scenes. I like to take it all in and then, with time, compositions appear. Shooting there is tricky with color and light, especially with a blanket of clouds diffusing the light off the yellow white sand. Ironically I spent as much time on the empty camp sites as I did on the sand. Either way, I have always wanted to shoot here and I was very happy with the take. Here are a few of the ones I may develop further.
